More damage, more onslaught—I couldn’t come up with anything better than that? How the hell do you approach a beast that could take everything you have and use it against you? He had a ricochet factor, and I couldn’t find a weak spot. At least with my demon mode, I could wail on him hard enough to where it wouldn’t matter. By the time he thought about reversing my move I would already have his face print on the floor.

The alternative would be to exhaust myself until I found a weak spot. Then again, with Aomi linked to him, he could start using her as a shield too. Then where do I fucking win?

“Fucking bastard,” I grunted under my breath, watching as he raised his finger at eye level. Prepared to fight back? Hell, I doubt it, seeing how stubborn he was. But something told me that he was done trying to convince me.

“While I would love to pound your face in, my time is up. I have fulfilled her request, and seeing as you’re adamant in your decision, I have no choice but to forcibly bring you to the ring, to move forward with the resurrection.”

“Let me… understand something, Gabrielle…” Aomi whispered faintly, her eyes swollen with tears. “Your goal, as it stands here today, is to bring total chaos to both worlds, no, to three worlds. An Armageddon. While I’d like to think that Malakhim will overpower your forces, I cannot help but think you have been pulling sources from the king, being his close hand, revealing vital army secrets that you can use against him in war. You are giving Grathmyr an edge. No, let me rephrase that. You are giving yourself an edge. Because according to you, when this war is over, when all the blood is spilled, neither Grathmyr nor Malakhim will stand.” Aomi took to standing, her face narrowed at the archangel. “While I believe Weiss is an important part of your mission, I still do think you can see her as expendable. But still, in the world you are fighting to bring, I cannot see Weiss living in it. Nor myself, or anyone faithful to peace and love. Weiss would be disappointed in me if I allowed you to go through with this in her name! I will not stand for it! She would rather sacrifice her life ten times over then allow our worlds to crumble! Either way you turn it, Gabrielle, you made it clear, your intentions from the start have never changed. So, to hell with you, and your dead queen!”

“Like music to my ears…”

Finally, fucking go time.

Aomi made the connection, she understood the risks and judged the aftermath. The fear of losing Weiss had washed over her, and she started to think logically for once. I was hoping she would sooner than later, and she had, coming to terms with the full picture here. Gabrielle intended to kill Weiss either way, regardless if Weiss was expendable or not.
